It’s been one of the most popular parts of Love Island in recent years, as the couples get the chance to imagine what life would be like with a baby of their own.

From Chris Hughes and Olivia Attwood’s infamous bonding over Cash Hughes, through to others such as Megan Barton Hanson and Josh Denzel finding it rather more challenging, the ‘parenting’ task has certainly provided more than its fair share of memorable moments.

And with the final week of the 2019 series looming, viewers are poised and waiting to see whether this year’s Islanders will get to rise to the baby challenge.

But will it be returning this year? And with question marks also raised over the future of the show’s lie detector test, will that also be taking place or has it been shelved?

Here’s what you need to know…

When is the Love Island baby challenge?

As yet the date of the baby challenge – or whether the 2019 Islanders will have to face it – has yet to be confirmed by ITV.

However previous series have seen it take place during the final week of the show, which we are just kicking off.

So if it is going to happen in 2019 you can expect it some time this week ahead of the final on Monday.

Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV for further comment.

Will the lie detector test also be taking place?

A question mark has been hanging over the future of the lie detector test which also used to take place in the last week – with reports that it’s been axed this year.

Reports that it had been dropped came after Steve Dymond took his own life 10 days after filming an episode of The Jeremy Kyle Show, during which he had failed a polygraph test.

An ITV source said at the time: ‘A series of top-level meetings have been held over the past few weeks with regard to safety measures and duty of care procedures.

‘One of the issues raised was the lie detector. The feeling was, in the wake of the Jeremy Kyle case, bosses must be whiter than white — they cannot mess with people’s emotions.’

The source went on to tell The Sun: ‘The test they used last year was very basic — one not approved by the British Polygraph Association.

‘While nothing is set in stone and ideas change on an almost daily basis, at the moment there are no plans to bring the polygraphs back.’

When is Love Island on?

The series continues on ITV2 on Monday night at 9pm.
