Amber Gill was always destined to win Love Island series five as new statistics show she topped popularity polls since first arriving.
According to figures obtained by The Sun the 21-year-old, who was crowned champion on Monday’s grand finale alongside partner Greg O’Shea, was a fan favourite throughout and came out the strongest contender each week.
And if that wasn’t enough, her favourable results continued regardless of which islander she was coupled up with or whether she was on her own.
‘It may have been a bit of a surprise that she won but the people connected to the show could see her popularity throughout the course of it,’ a source said.
The insider continued to the publication: ‘She was so in favour that it seemed to be a case of whoever she coupled up with would end up the winner with her.’
Amber and Greg bagged the £50,000 cash prize for landing first place and plan on being rather sensible when it comes to spending their winnings.
‘We didn’t even think we’d win the money so it hasn’t actually come into our heads,’ Greg told Metro.co.uk. ‘We’ll probably invest it, which is really boring.’
‘I’ll definitely get at least one designer item,’ Amber giggled. ‘And then I’ll save the rest.’
The couple have grown close to one another over the past fortnight and it seems like the loved up pair are taking things slow in the bedroom.
‘No, it’s still only 13 days,’ they told us before adding: ‘We’ve been respectful, it wasn’t about whether we were on camera or not, it’s just how we carry ourselves as people.’
Talking about where their relationship is headed, they confirmed that they’re officially exclusive and only have eyes for each other.
‘I don’t think it’s in our nature to see other people,’ they confessed: ‘We’re both very loyal and we’re definitely only going to be seeing each other.’
Love Island is set to return to ITV2 in 2020.
