Molly can never propose to him (Picture: Vigil/Getty Images for Misspap)
Love Island star Tommy Fury admitted he would never allow girlfriend Molly-Mae Hague to propose to him.
The novice boxer genuinely believes that ‘you’re not a real man’ if a man let a woman propose to him so we guess Molly doesn’t have anything to worry about.
Speaking to OK!, the 20-year-old spilled: ‘Any man who lets a woman propose is not a man. It’s obviously gone wrong somewhere. Imagine if she did that.’
The reality TV star made the old-fashioned statement during an interview about the couple’s strong relationship and their plans for the future.
Meanwhile, it didn’t seem like Molly was bothered by Tommy’s views.
Tommy would probably lose his mind if Molly ever did decide to propose, but we think it would be sweet.
Molly, unbothered by everything, continued: ‘We chat about the future a lot.
Our favourite Love Island couple (Picture: Mike Marsland/WireImage)
‘I don’t know if we seem stupid because we are so young, but we’ve found everything we want so why cant we talk about marriage and babies as it is going to happen.’
She continued: ‘When he does propose, I’m not going to be bothered about the ring or anything like that. I’d be happy with a Haribo ring if it meant we were getting married.’
Since meeting on Love Island this year, the young couple have been going strong, being the only two beside Maura Higgins and Curtis Pritchard who are still together.
They even moved in together so we could see them married in the near future.
Tommy added: ‘I was the soppiest man ever on Love Island, possibly in the history of that show so people assume I might pull out a ring. I’m a simple man so I don’t need much, except Molly.’

Following the success of the dating competition over the past few summers, the show will return for a winter special set in Cape Town.
With host Caroline Flack already preparing for Love Island’s highly-anticipated winter comeback, we can assume there’s not long left before it all kicks off.
Here’s what we know about Winter Love Island 2020.
When is Winter Love Island?
While the exact date for the first episode of Winter Love Island has not been revealed, we do know it’ll begin in early January.
Caroline Flack is returning to host the series (Picture: David M. Benett/Dave Benett/Getty)
A source previously told Mail Online: ‘Bosses are still deciding on the final date but it is thought to be January 8 – a week after staff arrives in South Africa.
‘It has been decided that the show will run for six weeks instead of the usual eight.’
Who’s in the Winter Love Island line-up?
Producers are keeping the line-up extremely close to their chests however there have been rumours.
Ellis Iyayi is rumoured to be heading to the villa (Picture: Instagram/@elisiyayi)
A source told The Sun: ‘Ellis is over the moon about it – he’s had to be sworn to secrecy about it but he’s been in to meet producers a few times and they love him – he can’t wait to get in the villa.
‘Ellis is exactly what the show is looking for and he ticks all the boxes – he will make great television.’
If only he said yes to the invite (Picture: Getty)
Aitch got asked to go on Love Island and now we’re trying to imagine him putting all his eggs in one basket.
The Taste rapper could have had his chance at love on the ITV show but decided it was a bad idea.
Appearing on Capital Breakfast and discussing how many verified Instagram pages have DM’ed him, the 19-year-old said: ‘There’s a couple of blue ticks in there, I’m not gonna lie.
‘There’s been Love Island blue ticks, hundred. I got asked to go on Love Island, no word of a lie!’
We’re trying hard to picture him in the Spanish villa, but the famous artist wouldn’t need a TV show to help on a quest for love.
He continued: ‘I’ve not got the body!
‘Obviously it would have been funny. I didn’t think about it. It was a “non” straight away, but it would have been very funny.’
What about Celebs Go Dating? (Picture: Nils Jorgensen/REX)
There’s still time to sign up for next summer’s Love Island, Aitch.
Aitch, real name Harrison Armstrong, refused to spill which Love Islander DM’ed him as he ‘wouldn’t like to put someone on blast like that’.
It could be anyone from last season’s Dani Dyer and Wes Nelson or even this season’s favourite’s Tommy Fury, Amber Gill, and Curtis Pritchard.
Meanwhile, the star admitted he would love to collaborate with Harry Styles and Rita Ora.
As does everyone else, Aitch. As does everyone else.

Greg has been focusing on his rugby career (Picture: Getty)
Love Island winner Greg O’Shea was named in Ireland’s rugby squad for their maiden World Sevens Series appearance.
Being on reality TV really did pay off.
Greg won the ITV2 dating show with Amber Gill, but the pair broke up several weeks after being crowned the winners.
However, it looks as though the star no longer has to worry about bumping into his exes, as he is set to travel to Dubai as part of Anthony Eddy’s 13-man squad.
The 24-year-old recently moved on from the Love Island queen and went public with his new girlfriend after they enjoyed a date in Paris this week.
The Irish law student is best known for striking up a romance with Amber on the popular series this summer before allegedly ending their brief relationship by dumping her via text message.

Greg’s latest Instagram photo shows him sitting at a dinner table inside a restaurant with the Eiffel Tower and its golden lights in the background just outside the window.
Emma posted a similar photo on her own account, showing part of the Eiffel Tower behind her while posing with a glass of wine.
‘Parisian night,’ Greg captioned the snap, while Emma said next to her photo: ‘Spending my weekends eating good food and making the best memories… so in love with this city.’
Does this mean we’re going to start seeing ‘Dubai nights’ when Greg begins his rugby stint?
Greg is apparently dating Emma (Picture: ec4nning)
We might even get some cute couple ‘Tokyo nights’ snaps if he travels to Japan for the 2020 Olympics at the World Rugby Repechage tournament the squad are bidding for.
The 22-year-old got her hands on a signed copy of Vex King’s Good Vibes, Good Life.
The author wrote: ‘Dear Amber – may you always be a winner and continue to stay blessed.’
Then Amber wrote in her post: ‘So excited to read. Need a bit of spiritual positivity this Sunday.’
Maybe she needs some spiritual positivity after all those ‘Parisian nights’ posts.

Alex snubbed a £40k payday on Celebs Go Dating (Picture: Getty)
Love Island’s Alex Bowen was offered a whopping £40,000 to appear on Celebs Go Dating… despite his relationship with Olivia Buckland.
The couple, who fell for each other in the 2017 villa and are now married, have launched their own reality shows and specials, documenting their wedding day and life together.
But back when Alex and Olivia first left the villa, it seemed skeptics had little faith they’d last.
Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk about projects they’ve refused in the past, Olivia revealed: ‘You [Alex] were asked to do Celebs Go Dating when we first came out [of Love Island] because they thought we were going to split up!’
‘Oh yeah! Yeah, and I said no,’ Alex replied, adding it was ‘mad’ he was given that kind of offer.
‘I think he was offered £40,000 for Celebs Go Dating,’ Olivia continued. ‘And he was like “no, I’ve got a girlfriend.” And then we ended up getting engaged so…’
She added: ‘People were so convinced that he would just drop me, that they offered him that to go on it. But he never did.’
People didn’t think their romance would last after Love Island (Picture: ITV2)
‘How bad is that? Obviously, I had to ask him, because you can’t be offered that kind of money [and not consider it],’ Olivia admitted.
‘There’s a lot of people that would pretend that they weren’t in a relationship and then get back into a relationship when they come out, I know people have done that already!’ she laughed.
‘But we’re not like that.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Celebs Go Dating reps for comment.
Celebs Go Dating has just announced its newest line-up for the upcoming series, which will include Love Island’s Amy Hart, Towie’s Amy Childs and EastEnders star Dean Gaffney.
Alex and Olivia spoke to us to celebrate the launch of VK’s limited edition candy cane flavour available at Asda and Tesco, and are now getting ready for Christmas before moving house in the new year.
Celebs Go Dating is expected to return in 2020 on E4.

Curtis and Tommy are trading places (Picture: ITV/Rex)
Love Island alumni Curtis Pritchard and Tommy Fury are quite literally trading places as the first pictures from their new TV show The Boxer and The Ballroom Dance have been released.
The ITV2 programme will see the boxer and the ballroom dancer do a Wife Swap (kinda) – although instead of swapping partners, they’re exchanging jobs.
Professional sportsman (and younger brother of Tyson Fury lets not forget!) Tommy will be brushing up his skills on the dance floor, whilst former Dancing With The Stars’ Curtis will be preparing to enter the ring with advice from legend Ricky Hatton.
Curtis is getting into the ring (Picture: ITV/Rex)
The lads seem pretty confident and care-free in the first-look pictures…why does something tell us this is going to be harder than they anticipated?
The duo, who stole the dating competition with their bromance, have the support of their girlfriends Molly-Mae Hague and Maura Higgins, who will be appearing on the show as their beaus discuss the trials and tribulations of learning a new skill.
Get those dancing shoes on, Tommy! (Picture: ITV/Rex)
When we asked about their show, Tommy said: ‘You’ll have to stay tuned for that one,’ with a nervous giggle, while Molly added: ‘I don’t think you can talk about that.’
He grinned: ‘Oh I can’t say too much, but stay tuned for that one’, as Molly said: ‘Been busy, been busy.’
Curtis also squirmed, telling us: ‘Erm… me and Tommy, we just happened to be in the same place at the same time.

Molly had lots to be excited about last night (Picture: Backgrid)
Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague had no time to worry about the fat-shaming trolls last night as she celebrated the launch of her new PrettyLittleThing collection.
The 20-year-old rocked up to the red carpet solo in Dublin on Wednesday evening to mark the arrival of her Party Edit with the popular clothing brand.
Sporting her newly-bobbed hairdo, Molly stood out in an emerald green two-piece with a floaty silk blouse, which boasted a plunging neckline, and matching flared trousers. The reality star finished off the look with a thick gold choker.
While it appears Molly’s boyfriend Tommy Fury stayed at home for the occasion, she was joined on the red carpet by PrettyLittleThing co-founder Umar Kamani, who hosted the bash.
Among the guests celebrating with the TV star were former Love Island star Scott Thomas and Chris Brown’s ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran, who was pictured hanging out with Molly in VIP.
It comes after Molly was forced to hit back at trolls who criticised her weight after photos of her wearing a bikini emerged.
Defending herself against the haters, Molly explained to OK! Magazine: ‘I was stone and a half lighter a year ago but that’s because I was at the gym twice a day, and was obsessed with my diet – all I was eating was couscous and rice.

Molly was giving us 70s vibes (Picture: Backgrid)
‘It was probably unhealthy, and I was extremely underweight for my height. I was a size four. I might not be as confident in my body as I was before, but I am healthier.’
That’s not the only criticism Molly has faced recently after she was heavily ridiculed for the colour of the foundation she used in a recent make-up tutorial for YouTube, which was several shades darker than her skin tone.
In the video, Molly said: ‘I’ve really been enjoying Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk but this is too dark for me so I’m going to be mixing it with my studio fix fluid from MAC which is a holy grail of mine I use it all the time and this is in the shade NC42 which is still very dark.
The TV star was in good spirits despite all the recent backlash (Picture: Backgrid)

‘I often get lots of comments on how my face is too dark.’
Although justifying the colour in the video, Molly then said: ‘I go very pale in the winter time and obviously now it’s getting colder, it’s getting wintery, so I’ve gotten quite pale.
‘Once my foundation is on, and the whole world has hated me for how orange my face is.’
NC42 is typically a colour used by black women and Molly is yet to speak out on the criticism.

Megan Barton-Hanson hasn’t ruled out dating either gender (Picture: PA)
Megan Barton-Hanson’s loved up with her gorgeous girlfriend Chelcee Grimes, but the former Love Island star admits the connection she has with a partner is more important than whether they’re a man or a woman.
She explained: ‘Sometimes when you say comments like that it’s in a jokey way. Some of my friends laugh and joke with me like “oh god you need to get back on that D, Meg. Don’t you miss it?” and I’m like no!

‘It’s just banter and I don’t think people should take it so seriously. Trust me, there’s all kinds of alternatives!’
Megan surprised shoppers at Ann Summers in honour of their Black Friday sale this week, giving out voucher to unsuspecting shoppers.
She’s the brand’s Pleasure Positivity Director, and she revealed how much the positive response she gets for being so open and honest with fans means to her.
Megan’s no stranger to throwaway comments being taken as gospel (Picture: PA Wire)
Megan explained: ‘The perk of having this platform is being able to help so many people. I’m just happy to be that voice to people who have suffered mental illness have struggled with being slut shamed and stuff. It’s really good to have this platform now.
‘The best thing about being the Director of Pleasure Positivity is the messages I get from women. And it’s a whole spectrum of women, like some will be young girls in their twenties, some will be women in their forties saying “I was never confident, and I was always ashamed to say I liked sex and now I’ve done it”, or older women who’ve worked in the sex industry.
‘So yeah, it’s incredible to have all these lovely messages.’
Megan Barton-Hanson launched Ann Summers’ Black Friday discounts this week, available in store and online at www.annsummers.com.

Dan Osborne has revealed that he is struggling with jet lag as he supports wife Jacqueline Jossa out in Australia for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
The former TOWIE star has jetted off down under whilst EastEnders star Jacqueline takes part in the latest series of the reality competition.
It comes after Rak-Su singer Myles Stephenson told Jacqueline he believed that his ex-girlfriend, Love Island’s Gabby Allen, had cheated on him with Dan.
Dan took to Instagram to vent his frustration (Picture: Dan Osborne)
After landing in Australia, the former Celebrity Big Brother housemate took to Instagram, posting a series of stories that showed he and his two daughters, Ella and Mia, were struggling with jet lag.
‘It’s 7 clock in the morning here and I’ve been up since half two if you’ve seen on my Insta Stories,’ he said.
‘I don’t know whether to have a nap as I’ve been up since half past two, I feel knackered. I look exhausted.’
Dan seems to be struggling with jet lag after cheating allegations emerged (Picture: Dan Osborne)
When asked by Adele, Jacqueline beamed as she explained: ‘Oh it was really good! So it was my sister’s wedding, and we were all in Greece.
‘There was this big sailboat that was just moored. So Dan, he went “oh wow, look at that boat! It’s actually moving today.”
‘It was coming over and it just started turning, and as it turned, on the side of the boat, it said “Will you marry me?”
‘And then I turned around and Daniel was on one knee and I was like [screams] “It’s Me!”’
‘I forgot to say yes!,’ she laughed. ‘I was just like [shocked].’
So it seems that the actress has put the cheating allegations behind her…for now at least. Dan himself said that he has ‘nothing to say’ to the loose-lipped Myles when he first landed in Australia.
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! airs nightly at 9pm on ITV.

After treating viewers to the first live performance with her former band in 10 years, judge Nicole looked stunning as she left the studio in a black and nude patterned dress, with her dark hair and eye makeup matching the gown’s shimmering beaded detailing.
Seriously, how do we look like her?
Also looking pleased as punch alongside was head judge Simon Cowell, who wore a classic suit – and disguised the gash on his forehead – as he cosied up with girlfriend Lauren Silverman who looked festive in a silver sparkly jumper.
There’s no rest for the wicked for Simon, as it was revealed that his next show The X Factor: The Band would be kicking off on Monday 9 December.

One face who won’t be returning for the new show is Louis Walsh, who has reportedly been axed from the series for a third show with only Simon and Nicole returning to judge.
Nonetheless, Simon’s long term frenemy seemed in high spirits after Saturday night’s final as he headed out with the stars of the show.
Coming along to cheer on the night were Eyal Booker, Wes Nelson and Zara McDermott from Love Island supergroup No Love Lost and Vinnie Jones, who were all overjoyed to see Megan be named champion.
‘This is what a winner looks like,’ Zara wrote on Instagram as she filmed the former TOWIE star letting loose at the wrap party.

Gabby has broken her silence (Picture: Rex/Getty Images)
Gabby Allen has broken her silence amid claims she and Dan Osborne had an affair, and has also branded ex Myles Stephenson a ‘cruel fraud’.
The drama started when Myles, who is currently taking part in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, told Dan’s wife and fellow campmate Jacqueline Jossa in unaired scenes that he had heard about her husband allegedly cheating on her with Gabby – who he had previously dated.
Now, the former Love Island star has firmly denied this was the case – and she has also launched an attack on her former boyfriend.
Referring to him as a ‘deceitful narcissist’, she claimed that Myles has cheated on her with five women.
‘He is a fraud,’ she told The Sun On Sunday. ‘He is not a good person otherwise he wouldn’t have treated me so badly. He is a deceitful narcissist and a compulsive liar.
‘I look back at our relationship now and wonder if he ever loved me at all.
‘He’s a real Jekyll and Hyde character and he doesn’t care what pain and hurt he causes.’
She added that it was ‘cruel’ for Myles to have told Jacqueline – who has been married to Dan since 2017 – about this, but she understands that the former EastEnders star would have been annoyed regarding the rumours about her and her husband.
‘I’m so sorry that I had any part in damaging their [Jacqueline and Dan’s] marriage,’ she continued. ‘It’s devastating.

‘But hand on heart, Dan and I were never more than friends.’
A spokesperson for Myles told Metro.co.uk that they ‘expected’ Gabby to speak publicly about Myles when he entered the jungle for the ITV reality series.
‘Gabby hasn’t stopped talking to the press about Myles since he went into the jungle,’ they stated. ‘We expected this to happen when he did the show, and it has. The public can make their own minds up about what her motivation is.’
She later reiterated the claims that Myles had been unfaithful to her on her Instagram story, as she also provided screenshots of messages as supposed proof.
Jacqueline was reportedly allowed to call home after threatening to quit I’m A Celeb following Myles’ claims (Picture: ITV)
‘I have tried to bite my tongue and keep my dignity after discovering the new endless determined pursuit of women and a long term affair that Myles undertook,’ she wrote.
‘I wanted to deal with this break up privately but I have been left with no choice after deflective behaviour and my name being questioned.
‘So, will stand up for myself but I’m not going to talk about this again after today. [sic]’
‘Jacqueline was beside herself after Myles told her what he believed,’ a source told the publication. ‘She was nothing short of hysterical.
‘Jacqueline has been fantastic to watch so producers really wanted to avoid a situation where she walked out. But equally they were very conscious about a duty of care towards her and had to consider her mental state.’
Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Gabby, Dan and Jacqueline for further comment.

Myles told Dan’s wife and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here camp mate Jacqueline Jossa that he heard about her beau allegedly cheating on her with Gabby, which resulted in Gabby going on an Instagram story tirade on her ex.
She started off her story explaining why she can no longer stay quiet on the issue: ‘I just want to reiterate/ set the record straight. I have tried to bite my tongue and keep my dignity after discovering the new endless determined pursuit of women and a long term affair that Myles undertook.
‘I wanted to deal with this break up privately but I have been left with no choice after deflective behaviour and my name being questioned.
So, will stand up for myself but I’m not going to talk about this again after today. Thanks to all the girls who came forward and sent me details of Myles’ cheating.
‘You will see how hard it has been to digest all of this. Have a little look yourself. [sic]’

And, boy, did she serve that tea hot.
It was claimed that the I’m A Celeb contestant contacted a woman while his then-beau was rushed to the hospital after getting an allergic reaction in Thailand.
The woman told Gabby, 27, that Myles messaged her from the bathroom while the former Love Island star was in bed sleeping.
One of Gabby’s leaked sexts showed Myles allegedly sending the woman nudes, with the woman responding, ‘When you’re single’.
Other screengrabs show the Rak-Su singer begging to meet up with women while he was still with Gabby.
One alleged she slept with Myles throughout his time with the Love Island star despite the fact the woman and Myles being broken up for a while.
Some of the women provided Gabby with proof (Picture: @gabbydawnallen)
Myles’ apology to one of the women (Picture: @gabbydawnallen)
In what appears to be from Myles’ Whatsapp, he begged Gabby for her to come back: ‘Just thought to myself that I would regret not trying to change your mind on things one last time if not then no more messages to you.
‘I’ve apologised a thousand times and I will keep apologising on how I made you feel but I want to do all I can to make you feel like I did initially.’
Gabby, who previously appeared on Big Brother, only came out with the receipts after Myles made the claims about Dan.
Referring to him as a ‘deceitful narcissist’, she denied ever sleeping with Jacqueline’s husband.
‘He is a fraud,’ she told The Sun On Sunday. ‘He is not a good person otherwise he wouldn’t have treated me so badly. He is a deceitful narcissist and a compulsive liar.’
A spokesman for Myles said: ‘Gabby hasn’t stopped talking to the press about Myles since he went into the jungle.
‘We expected this to happen when he did the show, and it has. The public can make their own minds up about what her motivation is.’

The Capital DJ has caught the attention of several women as he spends time in the Australian jungle, with even Love Island’s Amber Gill expressing her disappointment that she wasn’t single.
Sorry, Amber. The gent’s off the market.
Speaking from Australia, Anne-Sophie spoke to Capital FM, who made her trawl through a collection of thirsty tweets of viewers lusting after Roman.
While she breezed through most of them, she stopped at Amber’s, and said: ‘This one I’m a little bit worried about, because I thought she was so great on Love Island!’
‘It must be a compliment mustn’t it?’ Sonny Jay asked her.
‘Yeah! Well…’ she trailed off.

Amber made no secret of having an eye on Roman when she declared in a tweet: ‘Me when I found out Roman has a girlfriend,’ coupled with a meme of her staring in disbelief.
Better luck next time Amber!
Meanwhile, Roman has clearly been missing his Swiss-born other half, who he’s been with for the past two years.
Roman has been charming audiences while in the jungle (Picture: Rex)
Leaving behind a video of him talking to her for every day he’s away, Roman has also spoken about her a lot to his campmates.
In Monday’s episode, the group were discussing how long it takes for them to tell their partners ‘I love you’ – and Roman admitted he knew early in their relationship.
‘My missus I’m with now, I knew it after six weeks,’ he said. ‘She then said to me that she’d been waiting two weeks to say it.’
He also got teary-eyed when he was delivered his luxury item – a mug with her face on it.
Awwww!

The chicken dinner that set the internet alight (Picture: Tommy Fury/Instagram
Since leaving Love Island, Molly-Mae Hague has landed a lucrative clothing line and taken the next big step with boyfriend Tommy Fury as they moved into a Manchester flat together.
But the 20-year-old reality TV star and social media influencer has also had to contend with a deluge of criticism and abuse online – and was recently ridiculed on social media for a chicken dinner she cooked for the boxer which he shared on Instagram.
The controversial meal in question consisted of unseasoned boiled potatoes, steamed vegetables and what looked like a boiled chicken breast.
Molly-Mae has responded to the trolling of her healthy cooking, telling OK!: ‘The comments can be really intense, like when everyone went mad over the chicken dinner. It’s very patchy.
‘Sometimes it’s all good, and then other times it’s like the world hates me. I wanted to go on my Instagram stories and tell everyone he’d asked for that chicken meal because he’s on a strict diet, but why would I even justify myself?’
Molly admitted that she vents her frustration in videos that she sends only to her managers, and that she made 10 clips of herself ranting about the chicken abuse alone.
‘I make these ranting videos to get things off my chest and send them to my managers, but I never post them,’ she continued. ‘I’ve got ten videos on my phone talking about the chicken alone. The fact that people took the time to make memes and videos made me think, do you not have anything better to do?’
At least Tommy defended his girlfriend, as he tweeted amidst the trolling: ‘Can I just say that the meal @mollymaehague made for me was a fighters meal clean cut food I don’t like seasoning or any of that btw.
‘It was the most caring thing anyone has ever done for me so thanks for the meal babe I love you, come on guys where’s the love.’
The star also addressed the fat-shaming she was recently subjected to after posting a picture of herself in a bikini on Instagram, disclosing that she’s put on weight since last year because she’s healthier and no longer as ‘obsessed with her diet’.
‘I was reading through comments on a bikini photo of me and they were so mean. Someone commented that they have a better body and they have six kids. I got so upset. I was a stone and a half lighter a year ago but that’s because I was at the gym twice a day, and was obsessed with my diet – all I was eating was couscous and rice. It was probably unhealthy, and I was extremely underweight for my height.’
Molly-Mae added that she’s developed a thick skin, that Tommy assures her not to listen to negative comments which he suggests are most likely spawned through jealousy.

Just hanging out with my pal Prosecco (Picture: Ella Byworth)
Looking for inspiration for what to name your new canine friend? Take a glance at your drinks cabinet.
Apparently alcoholic drink inspired dog names are bang on-trend.
According to a report by Rover.com, naming your puppy after Prosecco has increased in popularity by over 200%, Champagne by 67% and Gin by 47%.
The report is based on data from two million pet owners who use Rover, which is a network for pet sitters and dog walkers. Of course, it doesn’t cover all dogs but it gives a good idea of what is popular this year.
They revealed the top 10 dog names from the last year as well as highlighting some of the rising trends for pooches.

Buddy
Although some old-fashioned names are really falling out of fashion among humans, they are making a comeback with dogs.
Gertrude is up 300% on last year, Malcom up 150% and Clive up 100%. Others that are rising in popularity include Nigel, which increased by 60%, Humphrey up 63%, Shirley up 67% and June up 50%.
Classic canine names also became more popular this year with Lassie up 400% and Spot up 53%, while Buster was up 11% and Buddy was up 12%.
Naming your pet after celebrities or tv characters has always been popular, and this year, it was Game of Thrones and Love Island that influenced dog naming trends.
Arya, Sansa and Ned all trended this year and from Love Island, Anna was 450% more popular in 2019, and Anton was up 200%, while India increased by 180%.
With Brexit in the news, political names are also more popular.
Jeremy and Jo have both risen in popularity by 100% and Boris by 12%.
Kate Jaffe, Trend Expert for Rover comments: ‘Dogs are considered fully-fledged members of the family by nine out of ten pet parents in the UK, so choosing a name for our canines can be as difficult as it is for our children.
‘Our dogs and the names we give them are part of our self-expression, which is why we see such strong influence from the things that Brits love – everything from favourite foods to small screen stars.’
Kate also has some suggestions for names that could be big in 2020. She says Goose and Maverick are expected to be popular with the release of the sequel of Top Gun.
As Tokyo hosts the 2020 Olympics, the city could also inspire some new dog owners. Kate also suggests Scooby Do, with the cartoon’s 50th anniversary next year and Gal or Wonderwoman as the sequel lands next summer.
Finally, she suggests Mars could rise in popularity with the NASA Mars exploration penned for 2020.
Despite fitting neatly into the millennial age bracket, Michael, a professional portrait painter, insists on living life in the past by dressing only in Victorian clothes from the 19th century and redecorating his home with antiques.
Michael writes in quill and ink, refuses to watch television, and travelled everywhere on an old-fashion bicycle until it was stolen.
And yes, he’s single.
He does receive some odd looks from strangers and judgement from friends and family, but Michael wouldn’t want to live his life any other way.
Michael said: ‘I have always been fascinated by the history that surrounds me – I have been dressing the way I do for as long as I can remember.

‘My earliest memory is seeing a top hat for sale in the window of a shop and asking my mother to buy it for me.
‘I dedicate my life to the era and have spent tens of thousands of pounds on clothing and furnishings – I don’t have a budget for my passion for history.
‘My friends and family don’t share my interest and the way I choose to live my life, but that doesn’t matter to me.’
Michael claims that his love for the past initially begun when he studied the Victorian era in primary school, even though his brother Bob, 20, would desperately try to get Michael to join in a game of football.
Michael added: ‘Most people looked at the class as boring history, but I really connected with it – I felt as though I really understood it and the way people were.
‘After learning about the era I began to base my life around it.
‘I adore everything from the era: the fashion, the morals, the aesthetics of furniture and even the music.

‘I base my personality on that of a Victorian – I am very much a gentleman and always polite.
‘People have always told me how polite I am ever since childhood.
‘I detest ill humour or anything dirty in conversation and I never swear either.
‘I only listen to music written before 1900 and I attend the opera many times a year, often in my own private box.
‘I also play the piano to a high standard and therefore relate to the music more.’
Michael hasn’t commented on whether he also holds the Victorian view of medicine, racism, and sexuality, and he doesn’t appear to have yet been struck down by smallpox.
He is keen, however, to chat about why it’s so important for him to wear only clothes from the olden times, explaining that people are so ‘spoilt’ with mass-produced clothing that what you wear is, sadly, no longer ‘a way of promoting one’s status or wealth’. Perish the thought.
All of his clothes are old and chosen to display his wealth (Picture: Caters News Agency)
‘I adore the clothing for its delicacy and ornate nature – clothes were very expensive and people would always wear their best when outdoors,’ says Michael.
‘I spend an entire week’s wage on a coat – and the average age of my clothes is 120 years old.
‘My most expensive item is a tailored dressing gown and night shirt I had made for my fit in Germany, which cost well over £700.’
That does sound cosier than the old, holey T-shirt we sleep in, to be fair.
Michael is currently transforming his house into a Victorian haven, having already restored his bedroom with oil lamps, a grandfather clock and a gramophone.
Shutting out the modern world comes at a price – the portrait painter says that redoing his room cost well over £8,000.
‘I hope that once the house is finished people will feel as though they have stepped back in time once they walk in,’ he says.
‘Even my job is tailored around my love for the past as I paint custom portraits in an older style.

‘People buy my art not just for what it is but also for the artist who creates it so I always make sure I’m dressed in dinner tails when I unveil a portrait.’
While many of us might refuse to date a man who can’t take a great plandid, Michael says his gentlemanly ways leave him inundated with offers for potential partners.
Sure, Michael.
If you’ve got your eye on bedding the bachelor, you’ll need to eschew the trappings of a modern woman and swap that Boohoo dress for a bustle. As we said, he doesn’t watch TV, so we don’t think you’d have a relationship filled with cosy nights in watching Love Island (yes, there’s a winter edition now).
He said: ‘I am currently not in a relationship, but I can assure you I am not unwanted.
‘I am one of the most eligible bachelors for miles around.
‘When I do decide to marry, I would prefer someone like me – a lady who wears a bustle and feathers in her hat, and who could accompany me with her singing as I play the piano late into the evening.
‘My career as an artist is far more important to me than love – I spend each day thinking of new ideas, painting and being creative.
‘I never get the time to work on my emotions.
‘But – when the time is right – I know I will be a perfect suitor.
‘And, as I base everything I do on that of the Victorian era, I would love to have a woman to share this with one day also.’
It’s hard to escape Tinder if you are single these days.
From casual one-night-stands to the love of your life, dating apps are the place to meet.
If you want to know what everyone is talking about and what are the most popular things to include in your bio, you’re in luck.
Whether you want to fit in with everyone else, or just avoid the trends to stand out, the Tinder Year in Swipe report reveals everything you need.
This was the year that saw Gen Z taking over and it’s now the generation that represents the majority of the Tinder community. There’s a lot of debate about where Gen Z ends and Millenials begin but Tinder has defined it as 18 (the minimum age to join the app) to 25-year-olds.
Emojis
Tinder users have been facepalming a lot this year. The emoji representing thrusting your hand into your face saw a 41% increase in Tinder bios this year.
Other popular emojis included the shrug with over 50% of Gen Zers including it and the ok hand sign emoji, with almost a fifth of 18-25-year-olds adding it to their bio.
Who run the world?
UK swipers were here for female stars in 2019. The most mentioned women in bios in 2019 included JLo, after THAT dress, and Jennifer Aniston, probably after she joined Instagram.
Other popular ladies included Ariana Grande, Fleabag, climate activist Greta Thunberg and former PM Theresa May.
With Lizzo climbing charts, she also ranked as one of the top artists Gen Z users included in their bio using the Spotify feature.
Foodie trends
Greggs vegan sausage rolls were a third more popular with Gen Z swipers than Millenials. Millennials preferred to mention avo on toast and stick to that stereotype.

Real was the most used term in Gen Z Tinder bios but other popular ones included lit, woke and stan.

Some other big topics included veganism, Glastonbury, Harry and Meghan having a baby and even Brexit was up there. We guess it’s best to make sure your political views align before the first date.

Chatting with your matches about the latest big TV show is always a popular way to build a connection. This year, Game of Thrones, Love Island and Fleabag were the most mentioned in bios. When it came to music, the top artists were Lewis Capaldi, JLo and Ariana Grande.
Don’t be afraid to mention politics
Gen Z swipers were much more likely to mention politics than Millenials. The slightly older generation mentioned the gym and marathons more.
In a clip that aired on Extra Camp, she was asked by Adele Roberts how he popped the question.
She said: ‘Oh it was really good!

She later told the Bush Telegraph: ‘I loved my proposal, I think it very well! It’s just a lovely thing to be able to talk about.’

Peter Andre may be a popstar but he might want to leave the rap life alone after making his son Junior cringe with his attempt at rapping and dancing.
Katie Price’s eldest son filmed himself spending quality time with his dad this week, which involved teaching him the latest dance moves that all the cool kids are doing.
But it seems Peter, 46, just couldn’t quite get the hang of ‘hitting the woah’, the dance move made famous by US rapper Sauce Walka and loved by Love Island stars Amber Gill and Ovie Soko.
In the video, the Mysterious Girl singer is seen bopping his head in the kitchen while counting the opening beats of Jay1’s song Mocking It.
‘I’m throwing it up yeah, check,’ Pete says awkwardly before throwing a questionable ‘woah’ in the air.
Junior, 14, wasn’t having it and demanded his dad ‘do it again’, adding: ‘How is that cool? You’re meant to throw it up.’
Poor Pete did give it a second go but his ‘woah’ was still a little dodgy, prompting Junior to ask in embarrassment: ‘What are you doing?’
Maybe stick to the Mysterious Girl body roll, Pete? (Picture: Junior Andre, Instagram)
Seriously, why do parents do it? To themselves and us.
In the caption, Junior ruthlessly mocked his ol’ dad and said: ‘He really wants to be down wit the mandem. 🤣 not wit them moves. Not a chance @jay1official [sic].’
According to new! Magazine, Pete has agreed to financially support their two children Junior and Princess, 12, in the midst of her money problems.
The source said: ‘Pete had a feeling this was going to happen, but he is far from happy about it. He feels sorry for Katie.
‘He has a soft heart and, despite their differences, he wouldn’t want to see the mother of his kids suffer.’
Pete is also father to daughter Amelia, five, and three-year-old son Theodore whom he shares with wife Emily MacDonagh.

Che Chesterman sang at Jacqueline Jossa and Dan Osborne’s wedding (Picture: Rex)
Jacqueline Jossa and Dan Osborne’s relationship may have come under scrutiny during her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, but Che Chesterman thinks the couple have handled the rumours ‘very well’.
He told Metro.co.uk: ‘Obviously as a couple that got married, you have to have some strength and some foundation in your relationship, and I think they’ve obviously got that.
‘And there’s a lot of eyes on them, both individually and together. Because apart from being together, they have their own careers individually, so it’s quite hard to be in a relationship where all eyes are on you both.
‘I can’t really say I know loads and loads about their relationship, but you can tell with them, they know what they doing. The media can sometimes be difficult to deal with, so I think they’ve dealt with it very well so far.
‘It’s just about trying to keep stuff between them and it’s hard but I think they’ve dealt with it alright and they’ve addressed what they’ve needed to address.
‘I know Dan did a video the other day addressing some people selling stories or some rubbish but I think they’ve done it they’ve done it the right way, in my opinion.’
Dan and Gabby have both maintained that nothing happened between the pair of them, with the rumours originating after photos of the two of them sunbathing on the deck of a yacht together emerged in April 2018.
Jacqueline and Dan have been together since 2013 and have two daughters, four-year-old Ella and one-year-old Mia, and Dan also has a son from a previous relationship.

The couple married in 2017, and their star-studded wedding included castmates from Eastenders and Towie as well as performances from Che and James ‘Arg’ Argent.
Che, who is set to announce details of his debut album before the end of the year, said it was a ‘pleasure’ to perform at the couple’s wedding, after making friends with Dan at a charity football match.
He revealed: ‘It was a pleasure to sing there, it was an incredible wedding. It went on until about three or four in the morning, it was a good night – everyone had fun, there was no drama, it was nice and smooth.’
